The 50-year deterioration of America’s pre-college education system, first documented in 1983 with A Nation at Risk, is now impacting our colleges and universities. According to a 2010 study team lead by Benno Schmidt, former president of Yale University, “American colleges and universities that were regularly called ‘the envy of the world’ now draw withering admonitions from the White House and numerous others for their high costs and declining quality.”
